ESL VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: No Experience Needed and the Reward is Heavenly

Deuteronomy 10:18-19 – “For the Lord your God...loves the strangers, providing them food and clothing.  You shall also love the stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.”

I am asking for volunteers to tutor refugees from Burma. My student's name is Ta Mwe Paw and she comes from a Karen Village that was destroyed many years ago. Ta spent almost her whole life in a Thailand refugee resettlement camp. Remember the Thai people do not like the Karen people. She is the happiest, most joyful, hopeful person I know. Can you imagine living in a settlement camp most of your life and away from your family and home?

This is a long video and there are many on You Tube about Burma. The new government dictatorship has changed the name of the country but it is still known as Burma. I will post some pictures of Ta that I have on my phone. I am currently helping her buy a house. I went with her family to every meeting with the bank and Housing Resources. I even was there at he first house inspection.

Catholic Charities only asks for an hour or so of your time and you DO NOT have to be a teacher. Most of the refugees speak some English and your job is to facilitate speaking correctly, identifying pictures and  textbooks and literature are there in the classroom for your use.You can use the copier to print out your own lesson plans.

We meet in the Catholic Charities office on 60th and North Avenue.
